Information Entropy vs CSI

Perhaps we should include something (or maybe a link to another page) detailing the difference between Shannon information and CSI. --SierraEcho 08:30, 17 August 2006 (CDT)

Great suggestion! Where do you think we should put it? --Joseph "Joey" C. Campana 08:34, 17 August 2006 (CDT)
Start with Werner Gitt's five information levels. Information Entropy (Shannon "Information") only deals with the lowest level statistics. CSI at least deals with levels 2-3 if not 2-5.

Because of the confusion it causes, strongly recommend not using "Shannon Information", but use

  • Information Entropy (Shannon Entropy, or Shannon "Information") -DLH

The bell labs summary appears very confused. See much more detailed coherent descriptions in the links added. e.g. Wikipedia. This needs a major rewrite.-DLH

It's really only a stub right now (little more than the default template), and the bell labs summary is more a pointer for whoever chooses to take it on as a project than anything else. Are you interested in writing it yourself? --Arctura 06:11, 28 August 2006 (CDT)
